"Is boredom a state of mind?  Write about a kid--perhaps yourself--trying very hard not to be bored."

I lay with my back in the grass, on a warm summer day. I have no responsibilities for that day and nothing specific that I want to do. I look at my hand and realize a small dragonfly has decided to land on my skin. I decided to make a game of it, the object was to keep the bug on my hand as long as I could. I sat as still as I possible could and the dragonfly decided to slowly begin to walk up my arm. I began to study the little dragonfly. He was a bright blue color with a slight purplish tint, his wings were laced with a beautiful pearl white. As I was laying there, I became bored, the little dragonfly was not walking anymore. I lightly lifted my arm and the dragonfly flew away. I was happy I got to witness the beauty of the dragonfly for a little bit. I rested my head on the ground again and looked up at the sky. I thought about all the possibilities for fun and I came to one conclusion, Bubbles. I giddily ran into the garage and sifted though the different gardening tools and various outdoor items, alas I found the giant bubble jar. Excitedly I grabbed the bubble jar and ran onto the driveway. Painstakingly I twisted the top off of the jar and pulled out the bubble wand. The bubble wand was dripping with sticky bubble liquid. I slowly brought the wand to my mouth and slowly blew into the plastic circle. The bubbles came out in a burst and I excitedly started grabbing at the multi-colored bubbles. I thought to myself, this was a perfect summer day.

Daily Prompt Generator:
"Do you watch or look away?  Write about a time you (or a character you invent) had to get a shot."
I decided to make a fictional story.

I glance nervously at the nurse who stepped into the clinic’s waiting room. Somewhere in my heart I knew she had come for me. She locked eyes with me and gave me a polite smile, Oh Boy. I slowly raised from my seat and began to shuffle her way. She led me down a hallway and to a room labeled 201. I walked in and sat down on the un-comfortable medical table. She clarified that I was here to receive a shot. I replied with a meager yes. She got off her rolling stool and said she would be back promptly to administer the shot. Ten minutes had passed and I started glancing at the clock, nervously awaiting the nurse who had my shot. Eleven minutes had passed and I began to sweat. Tick-Tock Tick-Tock, I could hear footsteps come down the hall, they stop in front of my room. The door handle turns and the nurse walks back in with the shot. She asked if I would like to lay down, she said I was looking a bit pale. I decided to take her advice and laid my head down on the flat pillow. She walked over to me with the needle in her hand and I began to feel extremely nervous. She again reassured me that it would not hurt, and I didn’t even begin to believe her. I closed my eyes and braced myself. I felt every part of my body tensing up. The nurse told me to open my eyes. Confused I looked at her and asked if something was wrong, she shook her head. “While you were tensing your body, I gave you the shot, and you never even felt it” she said. I felt a flooding sense of relief and thanked the nurse for her help. I walked out of the clinic that day feeling accomplished. Getting a shot is not so bad after all.

"What's your favorite month?  Write about what makes your favorite season your favorite season."

June is my favorite month. I love June because summer is one of my favorite seasons. June is a wonderful month because the air has become more consistently warm and the water has become warm as well. June is also my birth month, I always enjoy my birthday. In June our swimming pool becomes swimmable. You may think that the month of May is good for swimming as well. I must say the water is usually not warm enough in May, it is usually a bit chilly for swimming. One downfall about summer is the super-hot weather. It is not so much the temperature here in Missouri as it is the humidity that kills you. I met a women from Massachusetts in Missouri the other day and the heat and humidity was very high, it was a hot day. This poor women looked like she was struggling with the heat. I talked to her for a few minutes. She said in Massachusetts they do not have the humidity they have here. I would prefer to live somewhere that does not have high humidity. Colorado sounds like somewhere I would like to live. I have lived in Missouri all my life so I have never experienced living in non-humid/dry-heat. I think it would be nice. Another reason I love summer is that it is lake season. Lake season is wonderful because I like going to the lake to hang out and relax. I hope we get to go camping at the lake this year. This June it seems like we have had an abnormal amount of rain, I noticed that the lakes around the area I live in have flooded, some are even 13 feet high. Overall I love June and the season of summer, and I cannot wait to enjoy the rest of my summer.
